If you provide unpaid help or support to a relative, friend, neighbour, brother or sister because of their physical or mental illness or disability, learning difficulty, old age and frailty or a drug and/or alcohol problem and you are aged under 18...

Then YOU are a YOUNG CARER

You may have a wide range of caring responsibilities such as giving the person you care for emotional support, doing domestic chores, carrying out personal and/or medical care and looking after the family.

You may feel isolated from other children and find it difficult to find a balance between your own needs and those of the person you're caring for.  You may need emotional support, help with your caring tasks, or to take a break from caring.  You deserve recognition for your role and the opportunity to enjoy your childhood.

There is a range of services for Young Carers across Norfolk.  These include one-to-one support, a county-wide primary and middle schools awareness raising project, magazine for young carers and more than twenty Young Carers groups offering support and activities with other Young Carers. 

There is also now a helpline offering support and information that you may want, when you want it.
